As we continue celebrating our 30th Anniversary this summer, I am excited to share the remarkable progress made possible by donors like you, and the goals we are working toward next.

In 1995, Zachary Fisher created the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in honor of his beloved wife, Elizabeth, driven by the belief that investing to uncover the causes of Alzheimer’s disease, improve care of people living with it, and find a cure could transform the plight of millions of people into a legacy of hope.

Three decades later, that legacy continues gaining momentum across our world-class programs at The Rockefeller University, NYU Langone Health, NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and the Imagine Institute in Paris, France.

To illustrate the noteworthy progress we have made, we recently engaged in a discussion with Dr. Ines Ibañez-Tallon of the Fisher Center Lab at The Rockefeller University, whose research is helping overturn the assumption that neurons damaged by Alzheimer’s disease might be lost for good. By identifying a previously overlooked receptor that may help reactivate impaired neurons, Dr. Ibañez-Tallon’s team is revealing new ways the brain might be able to recover cognitive function—in a striking example of the kind of promise that every Fisher-funded scientist works to turn into reality.
